    King Driving School General Policies

    Experienced Instructors

    King Driving School instructors are highly trained and experienced, providing the best possible learning experience for our students.

    Flexible Scheduling & Attendance

    King Driving School offers flexible scheduling options to fit your needs, with lessons in the morning, afternoon, or evening.  Attendance is mandatory for the entire 30 hours.  A student who misses more than three classes will be dropped from the class without a refund. The missed lessons may be made up during the following scheduled course session with attendance at the same lesson as was missed. All missed lessons or BTW must be completed within six months. 


    To receive a certificate, a student must complete 30 hours of class, six hours of driving, one hour of behind the wheel observation, and pass the test with a minimum grade of 80%. If a student fails once, the student will have a retraining session at no charge. If the student fails twice, there will a be charge of $100.00 for the student to retake the course again.  For students under the age of 18, King Driving School sponsors a parent night on the first day of class. We encourage parents to come.

     

    Affordable Pricing

    King Driving School basic course is $549.00.  An initial payment of $150.00 is required.  The balance due may be made in installments.


    Behind-the-Wheel Instruction (BTW)

    King Driving School instructs the student in a minimum of six hours of BTW lessons and one hour of observation time. Parents are responsible for 50 hours of BTW practice before the student can get their license. The student needs to continually put into practice what is being taught in-class and BTW. This is team effort between the student, parent and the driving school. Students sign up weekly for drive time for the following week. BTW drive are scheduled for one student. In some instances more driving time may be required in order for the student to attain an acceptable level of driving performance. Please plan ahead and have in mind any potential conflicts when signing up for driving times.

    General King Driving School Policies

    Students:

    • must have their learner's Permit by the end of the first week to do their behind­ wheel-training.

    • will not be allowed to enroll after the first three classes of the course have been completed.

    • must have their learner's permit in hand for the behind the wheel-training; failure to come to BTW with a learner's permit will be considered a 'no show'.

    • may be dismissed for inappropriate or disruptive behavior without a refund of the course fee.

    • suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, in the sole discretion of King Driving School, will be dropped from the course immediately, and there will be no refund.

    • must be on time and full attendance for all in-class and behind-wheel­ training.

    • are required to silence all electronic devices during all training sessions. Repeated failure to do so may subject the student to dismissal from the training session or course.

    • must complete 30 hours of class, six hours of driving, one hour of behind the wheel observation, and pass the test with a minimum grade of 80% to receive a certificate.  If a student fails once, the student will have a retraining session. If the student fails two times there will a be charge of $100.00 for the student to retake the course again. 

    • must schedule classroom behind-wheel-training instruction course must be scheduled for at least thirty days and the maximum time to complete the course is 24 continuous weeks.  Otherwise, the student will have to retake the course and pay the full tuition to restart the course. 

    • who are under age eighteen may not exceed two hours of classroom instruction during any

    single day and three make-up classes during traffic safety education course, and no more than one hour of behind the wheel instructions during any single day.

    State of Washington Licensing Requirements

    Prospective Drivers Must:

    ● Have had an instruction permit for at least six months.

    ● Show the Department of Licensing that a parent or guardian certifies that the driving student has had at least 50 hours of driving experience, including 10 hours at night, which was supervised by a licensed driver with at least five years of licensed driving experience.

    ● Not have been issued a traffic ticket and must not have any traffic ticket pending when applying for a license.

    ● Not have been convicted of a traffic violation within the six months prior to the day on which application for license is made.

    ● Not have been convicted of and must not have been found to have committed an offense

    involving the use of alcohol or drugs while holding an instruction permit.


    To obtain an intermediate driving license, students must:

    • Be at least 16 years old.

    • Show to the Department of Licensing (DOL) proof of having passed an approved driver training course with at least 30 hours of classroom and six hours of behind-wheel instructions.

    • If under the age of 18 years, have the consent of a parent or guardian.

    • Pass medical and vision screening, knowledge, and the driving test.


    An Intermediate License comes with these driving restrictions:

    ● No driving between 1 am and 5 am unless it is with a parent, a guardian, or a licensed driver who is at least 25 years old.

    ● For the first six months, no passengers under the age of 20 unless they are immediate family members.

    ● For the remaining time, no more than three passengers under the age of 20 unless they are immediate family members.


    There are tough penalties in the first year of licensed driving:

    ● 1st violation:  the passenger and the nighttime restriction are extended until age of 18 and a warning letter is sent to you and your parent or guardian if you receive a ticket for violating the restrictions or any other traffic law or you are involved in an accident where:

    • you receive a ticket

    • you are determined to have caused the accident

    • no one involved in the accident receives a ticket

    • no one was found to cause the accident

    • only your car was involved in accident


    ● 2nd violation - the driver is suspended for six months (or until age 18 if that comes first).
